Contains Ableton Live Lite Jun 11, 2009
By Adam McCann I had the item for a couple of months and never tried out the program Ableton Live Lite, because I heard the keyboard was the perfect companion for GarageBand. Even though that is true, it will work with just about any music production software, including the Ableton Live, which I started using, and so far it looks really promising. This is so much better than using the keyboard, I have to say. And the size and weight of it make it very convenient to use. You also can't beat the price. Sometime in the future, I hope to get an APC40 to go along with an upgraded version of Live 8 for my music production needs. Hope this helps.

Not a great keyboard.. Feb 01, 2010
By Ganesh Purchased this at a local store as it was under 100$. It was great to start off with, but it has significant disadvantage:
Velocity curve is hard-coded and is not smooth - does not vary from 0 to 127 smoothly. You are either at the lower end, 0 to 40 or at the upper end 110 to 117. It is very hard to touch the in-between velocities (noticeable when playing string ensemble). Though some DAW support changing the curve (in real-time), it is not a easy task..
These are somewhat half action keys - Full action would be great
Drivers get corrupted sometimes. Reinstall and multiple-reboots required to fix it.
i would recommend spending a few extra $ and choose a Oxygen or Axiom..

It's great for its size but the user's guide doesn't say anything for apple users about assigning buttons knobs and levers to functions because it doesn't do it?
Outstanding controler for the money Dec 18, 2009

"Experimental Music Guy"
I received this keyboard controller about a week ago and am presently experimenting with it to see where I can fit it into my studio.
I have not used the KeyRig software that is supplied with it. I am using it to control my impOSCar virtual synth just to take the controller through it's paces and see what it can do. For the price, I'm quite impressed. At present I've been experimenting with creating sounds from the stock sounds on the impOSCar, so all I've been working with is the 8 control knobs, trying to find the subtleties and nuances in each sound. VERY nice. I've been able to separate out and modify my sounds with this keyboard very easily.
I need to do more work with it (I'm a real research person when it comes to instruments and I will take months to learn, experiment with and integrate an instrument or device).
I know that my experience with this unit is limited (as you can see by my write up) but so far I'm very pleased. For the money you spend, it is pretty powerful and a lot of fun to play with. I highly recommend it. I'll add more as I work with this unit further and I gain more experience. BUT, for now: EXCELLENT!

a paintful device Dec 28, 2010

I bought it from M-audio webset, intended to find a simple way to enter notes in computer... the notes from this device are not lined up on the music sheet of Finale's product. Some function buttons work but some don't.... very disappointed, the tech supports are not supportive at all, they acted like a street vendors... never got their return label which they promised to send me through email. right now, it is still in my storage room without a single right note and single song produced. Hundred bucks are wasted. regret to buy it in the first place. do not recommend it.
