No Power Chord Aug 03, 2010 The keyboard functions well, but there is no power chord included with this product. If you want to run it without batteries you have to purchase an adapter.

Keys are not full size Jun 21, 2010 Just want to mention that this keyboard has keys that are not quite full size. I went to Guitar Center in Harrisburg PA to touch this keyboard, and measure the keys against those with full size keys. They are definitely not quite full size. So for that reason I've taken this keyboard off of my list of possibilities.
The graded soft touch is definitely not like the keyboards with weighted keys. However, it does have great sound like what you'd expect from a Yamaha. For a traveling keyboard for the person who doesn't mind the size of the keys, this is a great deal.
I guess it was a bit disturbing to me that on hundreds of webpages with descriptions of this digital piano, not one mentioned the size of the keys.
Well worth the price Jun 01, 2010 I found several reviews of other Yamaha keyboards that had a grand piano built in, and several of them pointed to this one as a huge value for the price. The internal Piano sounds are very good, but you only have about 5 or 6 sounds. I didn't buy it for the internal sounds. I bought it because of its semi-weighted and graded keys, and the fact that it had a Midi in/out port. Many of the current generation of entry-level Yamaha keyboards now have just a USB port for interface with a computer over a midi chipset, but lack that actual MIDI ports for connecting to other midi equipment. This keyboard has the midi ports.
Its also very lightweight and genuinely portable. My only complaint was that the description said it shipped with a power adapter, and it did not. Most of the sites I checked said the power adapter was sold separately, so I was surprised that it was listed here on Amazon with it...but then it wasn't included.

Frustrating for learning fast songs May 25, 2010 I am an intermediate level piano player, and I am used to using an acoustic Yamaha upright. As a practice piano, the np-30 gets a 3 because learning fast songs is different and harder than on the 'real thing,' but it has decent sounds and sensitivity and it is portable (I believe it's the smallest and lightest 76-key keyboard). So while I'm disappointed having bought into the 'hype,' I still enjoy using it all the time. Here are some differences that you should know if you, like me, want to learn to play with fast hands:
--Key spacing: the keys are 3/4" smaller than an acoustic, over the whole keyboard. There are also noticeable gaps in between each one. I would sometimes get my fingers "caught" in the space and so unintentionally play extra notes when moving my hand back and forth quickly.
--Slippery keys: The plastic is the same as any keyboard, so it is more difficult to grip than an acoustic's. The black keys are a little thinner and more rounded than an acoustic's square-ish ones. Make sure your fingers are curled on difficult passages to limit the slippage.
--Key sensitivity: I don't think the dynamics are as broad as an acoustics. The lightest touch that would work on an acoustic sometimes doesn't make a sound. The back part of the keys is more rigid, making playing loud chords using weaker fingers harder. Turning touch sensitivity down helps, but limits the range.
Overall, I still think this keyboard was the right choice for me since I really value portability. Others may want to either get the casio wk110 which is similar but cheaper, or a p85 or px-130 for a more tactile feel.
Had to go back and forth about the power supply, May 18, 2010 which is not included as advertised. The seller sent me a free one after a few emails but I notice the ad is still not updated....
Good product for occasional use for a professional musician, it is genuinely portable and perfectly adequate sound.
